The English RenaissanceThe English Renaissance was an era of sweet, economic, artistic and intellectual change. Discovery of the printing press changed how people communicated and thought. Cultural renovation produced remarkable artistic achievements. Humanists are a result of a huge cultural change that began in Italy. It brought the belief that humans could accomplish anything. Queen Elizabeth I and Leonardo da Vinci of The Renaissance were main people in the time of humanism because of their contribution to the the land they lived in with his smart inventions and theories. The renaissance also had a religious change, made people question their beliefs. The cultural boldness encouraged experiments in the arts. Tindal had intelligent scholars translate the bible, which gave people the right to challenge the words in it, now that they could read it. This time also gave us a democratic party which helped us politically wise. Printing press helped to make modern civilization possible.

How Greek and Latin became part of the English Language:The combination of Greek and Latin word parts form what is now the English language. Knowing the definition of the word part will help you understand what the large word means. Getting Greek words, such as Bio- and -log, will form the English word Biology. Also, knowing that Bio- means life and -log means study, then Biology means the study of life or living things.

What is a Tragedy? |
According to Aristotle tragedy is defined as ".. the imitation of an action that is serious and also, as having magnitude, complete in itself; in appropriate and pleasurable language;...
in a dramatic rather than narrative form; with incidents arousing pity and fear, wherewith to accomplish a catharsis of these emotions.” http://cuip.uchicago.edu/~ldernbach/msw/xhgkaristrag.pdf |
My Discussion Post on a Modern Tragic Hero: Miley Cyrus |
Miley Cyrus in my opinion fits Aristotle’s definition of a Tragic Hero. It is a character flaw that she has become very explicit. She wants people to see everything, public realized that when she released her video to the song “Wrecking Ball.” Her downfall started because her and Liam Hemsworth separated after ending their year-long engagement in 2013. In my opinion she undergoes a reversal of fortune caused by the flaw when she rebelled against her character Hannah Montana as she sexually danced with Robin Thicke to “Blurred Lines” on the VMAs and also when she smoked marijuana on stage at the EMAs. We experience “catharsis” (a purging of negative emotions) when she started acting and doing these things, people thought she was being disgusting. People do not like Miley Cyrus now because she is being way more improper than she ever was.
